Previously Half-Assed Pinteresting

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m a half-assed DIYer. I always have these grand plans. “I’m going to make ALL THE THINGS!” But then I decide to cut corners on a project that I think should be simpler or require fewer specialized tools than what it does, or I lose patience with how long it takes to finish, or I get caught up in another project at the same time.

As for travel, I never thought there was time or money. Not for a responsible adult! And my cooking, for a really long time, was limited to scrambled eggs and mac ‘n’ cheese.

too many ingredients
Is there anything as terrifying as a long list of ingredients?

But these days I live differently. I’m saving money for one international trip a year, if I can manage it, and traveling locally in the meantime. I’m building on Sarah’s Big Blue Book of Recipes, which is the traditional family cookbook, with recipes I find on the Internet.

(It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize I could use the Internet for things like this.)

Plus I have a sewing machine now. Brief history of me with sewing machines: bad. Somehow the thread always gets stuck in the cogs after thirty seconds of sewing. I got really good at taking apart the miniature sewing machine my grandma gave me for a while there. You know, before the time I took it apart but couldn’t get it back together.

But there’s an instructional DVD this time. So I’m sure that’s gotta make a difference, right? I even watched it.

Well, most of it.

Anyway. From here on out, it’s attempts at DIY, travels around the worldiverse, and further delving into recipes that have more than two ingredients. Maybe some of them will even turn out the way I want.

Let’s find out, shall we?
